Terms of Use

These Terms of Use form a binding agreement between you and Plastic Surgeons Reviews. They explain what you can do on the platform, what we will and will not do, and how disputes are handled. Please read them carefully. By creating an account or otherwise using the platform you confirm that you have read, understood and accepted them.

1. Acceptance of these terms

By accessing or using Plastic Surgeons Reviews you agree to these Terms of Use, our Privacy Policy and our Community Guidelines. If you do not agree, do not use the platform.

2. Who can use the platform

You must be at least 18 years old. By using the platform you confirm that you are 18 or older and that, if you act on behalf of an organisation (such as a clinic), you have authority to bind that organisation.

The platform is available globally subject to local law. If your use of the platform is prohibited in your country, you must not use it.

3. Your account

You are responsible for the accuracy of your registration details, for the security of your password, and for all activity on your account. Tell us immediately if you suspect unauthorised access. You may not transfer your account. We may refuse, limit, suspend or terminate accounts at our discretion in line with these terms.

4. Nature of the platform

Plastic Surgeons Reviews is an independent, patient-led review and discussion platform. We host content that users publish about their own experiences. We are not a healthcare provider, a referral service, an insurer, a regulator, or a clinical body. We do not select, endorse, certify, supervise, employ, control, or assume any responsibility for the surgeons, clinics, or other practitioners listed on the platform.

Listings, ratings, reviews, comments, scam reports and other content reflect the views of the individuals who posted them, not ours. The presence of a surgeon on the platform is not a recommendation. The absence of a surgeon is not a criticism.

5. Medical disclaimer

Nothing on the platform is medical advice. Nothing on the platform is a substitute for an in-person consultation with a qualified, licensed healthcare professional who has assessed you personally. Do not start, stop, delay or modify any treatment, medication, or post-operative regimen based on anything you read here.

Cosmetic and reconstructive surgery carry inherent risks, including but not limited to anaesthetic complications, bleeding, infection, blood clots, scarring, asymmetry, loss of sensation, dissatisfaction with results, the need for revision surgery, and in rare cases death. Outcomes vary between patients for reasons that include genetics, anatomy, lifestyle, post-operative compliance, and chance. No review, photograph, or before/after example on the platform predicts what your outcome will be.

If you are experiencing a medical emergency, contact your local emergency service immediately. Do not use the platform to seek emergency care.

6. Content rules

Our Community Guidelines are part of these Terms. Breaking them is a breach of these Terms. In short: post about your own experience, be specific and respectful, do not impersonate, do not harass, do not spam, do not paste content that is not yours, do not post content involving minors, do not post content that breaks the law where you are or where we operate.

7. Your content and licence

You keep the rights to anything you post. You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, transferable, sublicensable licence to host, store, reproduce, modify (for example, to add a blur to sensitive content), translate, distribute, publicly display and communicate your content, solely for the purpose of operating, promoting and improving the platform. This licence ends when you delete the content, except that we may retain backup or anonymised copies for the period described in the Privacy Policy and except where we need to retain content to comply with law or defend legal claims.

You represent and warrant that you own or have all rights necessary to post your content, that your content does not infringe anyone's rights and is accurate and lawful, and that you have consent from anyone identifiable in any images or recordings you upload.

8. Surgeon and clinic obligations

Surgeons and clinics that claim a profile additionally agree to: provide accurate professional credentials and keep them up to date; not solicit fake or incentivised reviews; not retaliate against patients for honest reviews; respond to reviews professionally and without disclosing protected health information; and comply with all applicable medical, advertising, consumer-protection and data-protection laws in their jurisdiction. Breach of these obligations may result in suspension, removal from the directory, and a public notice on the profile.

9. Moderation, removal and suspension

We may, at our sole discretion and without notice, remove or restrict access to content that we believe breaches these Terms, the Guidelines, or the law, that creates safety risk, or that exposes us or another user to legal liability. We may suspend or terminate accounts for repeated or serious breaches.

Reviews are not removed because they are negative. Reviews may be removed if they contain unverifiable specific factual claims that we cannot substantiate when challenged, if they break the Guidelines, or if a court of competent jurisdiction orders removal.

10. AI-assisted features

The platform includes AI-assisted features such as writing assistance ("AI Improve"), moderation aids, summaries, and limited engagement features. AI output can be wrong, incomplete, biased, or misleading. You are responsible for what you publish, including content you produced with AI assistance. We are not responsible for the accuracy, appropriateness or legality of AI output.

11. Third-party links and services

The platform may link to or integrate with third-party websites, content or services. We do not control those third parties and are not responsible for them. Your use of them is governed by their own terms and privacy notices.

12. Intellectual property

The platform's brand, logos, source code, design, layout, copy, illustrations and curated databases are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, scrape, redistribute, frame, reverse-engineer or build a competing product from the platform without our written permission.

13. Copyright notices (DMCA & equivalents)

If you believe content on the platform infringes your copyright, submit a notice through /report-content (select "Copyright / IP" as the content type). Include: identification of the work, identification of the allegedly infringing material with a URL, your contact details, a statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorised, a statement under penalty of perjury that the information is accurate and that you are authorised to act, and your physical or electronic signature in the details field. We will act on valid notices in accordance with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act and equivalent local laws.

14. Donations and payments

Donations are voluntary, non-refundable except as required by law, and do not entitle the donor to any product, service, or influence over editorial content. Donations are processed by third-party providers (currently Stripe, and Paddle where applicable). Tax treatment depends on your jurisdiction; we do not provide tax advice.

15. User-generated content and safe harbour

Plastic Surgeons Reviews is a neutral host of third-party content. Reviews, ratings, photographs, comments, community posts, scam-watch entries, surgeon responses and any other material submitted by users or by surgeons and clinics ("User Content") are the sole responsibility of the person who submitted them. We do not author, commission, verify, endorse or adopt User Content, and we do not pre-moderate it before publication.

To the maximum extent permitted by law — including Section 230 of the United States Communications Decency Act, Articles 4–6 of the EU Digital Services Act, the UK Defamation Act 2013 (s.5) and equivalent intermediary-liability protections in other jurisdictions — we are treated as a passive intermediary in respect of User Content and are not liable for it. This includes, without limitation, claims for defamation, libel, slander, false light, business disparagement, tortious interference, invasion of privacy, unfair competition, infringement of intellectual property, breach of confidence, harassment, emotional distress, or any other tort or statutory claim arising from User Content.

The person who posted the content is solely responsible for its accuracy and lawfulness. If you are the subject of a review or other User Content and you believe it is inaccurate, defamatory, unlawful or otherwise harmful, your remedy is to use the notice-and-takedown process described in the next section. We are not a substitute for, and you agree not to sue us in place of, the author.

Surgeons and clinics expressly acknowledge that critical, negative or unfavourable reviews — including reviews alleging poor outcomes, poor conduct or scam-like behaviour — are an expected feature of an independent patient-review platform, are protected opinion and reportage in the jurisdictions in which we operate, and do not on their own create liability for us.

16. Notice and takedown

If any User Content about you is inaccurate, defamatory, infringes your rights or otherwise breaches these Terms, submit a report through /report-content. This is the only takedown channel — informal messages sent elsewhere are not tracked. Include: the exact URL, the specific words or image complained of, the legal basis (e.g. "factually false — I never performed this procedure"), supporting evidence, and your contact details. We will acknowledge valid reports within a reasonable time and, where the report is well-founded, will remove, redact or annotate the content, typically within 48 hours of verification.

Engaging with this process in good faith is a precondition to any legal claim against us in respect of User Content. You agree not to commence proceedings against us without first giving us a reasonable opportunity to act on a notice. Once we act on a valid notice, you release us from any claim arising from the original publication of that content.

Abusive, bad-faith or knowingly false takedown notices may themselves be unlawful and may be referred to the relevant authorities.

17. Disclaimer of warranties

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the platform and all content on it are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, completeness, non-infringement and uninterrupted availability. We do not warrant that the platform will be error-free, secure, or continuously available, or that any defect will be corrected.

We do not warrant the accuracy, completeness, timeliness, safety, lawfulness, suitability or quality of any review, surgeon profile, photograph, community post, scam report, cost guide, AI output or other content on the platform. You rely on any of it entirely at your own risk.

18. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, neither we nor our directors, employees, contractors, agents or affiliates are liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, punitive, or exemplary damages, or for loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, business opportunity or anticipated savings, arising out of or in connection with the platform or these Terms, whether under contract, tort (including negligence), statute or otherwise, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Without limiting the previous paragraph, we are not liable for any loss or harm arising from: (a) any clinical outcome, complication, injury, illness or death related to a procedure or consultation booked, researched or considered through the platform; (b) any interaction or transaction between you and any surgeon, clinic, agent or third party; (c) any reliance you place on any review, photograph, rating, cost guide, scam report, community post, surgeon response, or AI-generated content; (d) the conduct of any other user; (e) errors, omissions or unavailability of content; (f) loss, corruption or unauthorised access to your account or data resulting from causes beyond our reasonable control.

Where law does not permit our liability to be excluded, our total aggregate liability to you for all claims arising out of or related to the platform and these Terms is limited to the greater of (i) the amounts you have paid us in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, and (ii) one hundred US dollars (USD 100). Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence or for fraud.

19. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Plastic Surgeons Reviews and its directors, employees and contractors from and against any claim, demand, loss, liability, damage, cost or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to: your content; your use of the platform; your breach of these Terms or the Guidelines; your violation of any law or the rights of any third party; or any dispute between you and another user, a surgeon, a clinic or a third party.

20. Termination

You can stop using the platform and delete your account at any time. We can suspend or terminate your access at any time, with or without cause and with or without notice, in particular where you breach these Terms or the Guidelines. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including the licence you granted us, disclaimers, limitations of liability, indemnity and dispute resolution — survive termination.

21. Governing law and venue

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which we are established, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Subject to mandatory consumer-protection rights that apply in your country of residence, you and we agree that the courts of that jurisdiction have exclusive jurisdiction over any matter that is not resolved through the dispute-resolution process below.

22. Dispute resolution

Before starting any formal proceeding, you agree to contact us at support@plasticsurgeonsreviews.com and give us 30 days to try to resolve the dispute informally. Where local law allows it and unless you opt out within 30 days of first agreeing to these Terms, individual disputes that remain unresolved are settled by binding individual arbitration rather than in court, and you and we waive any right to a jury trial or to participate in a class action. Mandatory consumer rights are not affected.

23. Force majeure

We are not liable for any failure or delay in performance caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including natural disasters, pandemics, war, civil unrest, government action, internet or infrastructure failures, or actions of third-party providers.

24. Miscellaneous

These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and Guidelines, are the entire agreement between you and us about the platform. If any provision is held unenforceable, the remainder remains in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it. You may not assign these Terms; we may assign them to a successor in connection with a merger, acquisition, reorganisation, or sale of assets. Headings are for convenience and do not affect interpretation.

25. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When the changes are material we will give registered users reasonable notice, typically by email or by an in-product banner, before the new version takes effect. Your continued use of the platform after the effective date means you accept the updated Terms. If you do not accept them, stop using the platform and close your account.
